In December 2009, the ACE Group’s North America regional headquarters in Philadelphia earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The building, located near Independence Hall in the city’s Historic District, is the only LEED-certified existing building in Philadelphia.
The facility achieved LEED-EB (Existing Building) certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, and other sustainable strategies. LEED certified buildings save money for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, employees and the community.
The U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED green building certification system is the foremost program for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. The LEED for Existing Buildings Rating System helps building owners and operators measure operations, improvements and maintenance on a consistent scale, with the goal of maximizing operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts.
