David Furby
President, Property & Casualty, ACE Overseas General
David Furby was appointed President, Property & Casualty, ACE Overseas General in 2010. He is responsible for the company’s property and casualty insurance business outside of North America, including property, casualty, financial lines, energy and marine product lines, as well as for the reinsurance ACE purchases for its international insurance operations.
Mr. Furby has been responsible for ACE Europe’s property and casualty business in Continental Europe since his appointment as President in July 2005. Mr. Furby was appointed President of ACE Tempest Re Group in 2002 to oversee ACE’s worldwide reinsurance operations and was responsible for the continued development of these businesses. In 2003, Mr. Furby assumed the title of President and Chief Executive Officer, ACE Tempest Re Group, to better reflect his responsibilities. Additionally at this time, he was appointed Corporate Reinsurance Officer with responsibility for ACE’s reinsurance coverage.
Mr. Furby joined the ACE Group in 1996 when ACE acquired the Ockham Syndicate. He was Treaty Underwriter for Syndicate 219, and later Director of Inwards and Outwards Reinsurance for Syndicate 2488, ACE Global Markets. He also was a broker at Greig Fester from 1981 to 1989.
